DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A Central Florida school bus driver is accused of stopping a school bus on some railroad tracks and threatening to kill the more than 50 children aboard.

"(My daughter) said the bus driver had stopped the bus on the railroad tracks and threatened to leave all the children there to die," parent of a Campbell Middle School student Glen Teschner told the Daytona Beach News Journal.

Teschner said his daughter claims the children could see a train coming and the teacher backed the bus over the tracks and threatened to park if they misbehaved.

"There were also other cars behind the bus," Teschner told the News Journal. "The kids got scared, and they started screaming and waving their arms at the people behind them so they would back up."

The alleged incident happened at the railroad tracks at George Engram Boulevard in Daytona Beach after school this week.

Volusia County School spokeswoman Nancy Wait confirmed that an incident is under investigation by the school district's Office of Professional Standards.

Wait said drivers are supposed to stop at all railroad crossings and be able to see 1,000 feet down the tracks.

"We don't know what happened here so it's under investigation," Wait said.

The driver, who was not identified, has been placed in another job with the transportation division.
