Boy's Hidden Tape Recorder Captures Abuse At Day Care, Mom Says
Owners Of Facility Say Woman Overreacting
Miranda Asura said that her 2-year-old son came home from Orange County's Brighter Beginnings day care with bruises so she sent him back with a tape recorder stashed in his backpack.Asura said audio of her son's crying and screaming is recorded proof that a teacher was beating the child."You hear (child's) name," Asura said. "Then you hear the smacking noise and then you hear him (take a deep breath) and then start crying, 'Mommy, mommy, mommy.'"Asura said she believes her son was hit many times on his hand, face, back and leg."I think that she has probably hit him on many occasions," Asura said.Asura played another portion of the recording in which the teacher apparently tells a young girl to hit her son.Dan Dittman and his wife Yanielth run the day care. They said they suspended the teacher but also claim the tape is inconclusive and it is a distortion of the truth."I'm surprised, aggravated and frustrated," Dan Dittman said. "We listened to it, we investigated it and we don't think her interpretation happened."Dittman said Asura is overreacting."She only let me listen to three small segments of that tape," Yanielth Dittman said. "That did not prove anything."Asura said her son has been called out for having behavioral issues for hitting children and acting out. But she said that doesn't give anyone the right to abuse the boy."He is my everything and my world, Arusa said. "To hear anybody put a hand on him tore me to pieces."Asura has pulled her child out of the facility and wants the teacher fired. She also said she wants a refund for child care.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
