VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Volusia and Lake counties early Thursday night.
"We are seeing some pretty good low-level rotational signatures at about 7,000 or so on the cell, National Weather Service official Matt Volkmer said. "There is some rotation with the cell toward Eustis, moving eastward also. We are watching those very close."
Sorrells said there have been no official sightings of funnel clouds but radar has indicated rotation.
"You can see these really ominous clouds coming in from the west and it is moving pretty quick," Volusia County Beach Patrol officer Scott Peterson said. "It looks like it is going to get pretty rough here."
Volkmer said there was excessive lightning associated with the storm in Volusia County.
Meanwhile, The National Weather Service reported several funnel clouds were spotted off the coast in Flagler Beach.
Also, a storm cell near Bunnell produced wind gusts of about 40 mph, Local 6 reported. A severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect for Flagler Thursday night.
