PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A woman and son plotted to kill two men for their inheritance and offered anti-anxiety pills as down payment for the hit.
Port St. Lucie police said 44-year-old Therese Batson and 23-year-old William Allen Cook tried to hire a hit man to kill Batson's live-in boyfriend and his brother.
Police said the mother and son offered an informant 29 pills of alprazolam, along with a truck, boat and camper belonging to one of the intended victims after the job was done.
Batson and Cook remained in jail Tuesday with no bond set on two felony counts each of solicitation to commit murder.
Cook was also charged with possession and delivery of alprazolam.
