ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man was arrested on attempted-murder charges after Orange County authorities responding to a carjacking saw him carrying two large knives while chasing another man, deputies said.
Cory Billings, 24, was arrested in the knife attack, which was unrelated to the carjacking, Orange County sheriff's deputies said.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies went to the Tymberskan Apartments late Sunday night after receiving a call that two men had stolen a red 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo from a woman and her 17-year-old female friend. Neither victim was injured.
The carjackers, one described only as a thin black man and the other as a large black man with dreadlocks, were last seen driving the vehicle from the complex, deputies said.
During the carjacking investigation, deputies said they heard screams coming from a nearby building and discovered Billings, who had two large knives, chasing a 24-year-old man.
Deputies used a Taser gun to shock and apprehend Billings, who faces attempted murder charges.
The man who was being chased suffered multiple knife wounds and was undergoing surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
