DeLAND, Fla. -- Two middle school students originally charged with conspiracy to commit murder after allegedly helping to plot a Columbine-style massacre pleaded guilty Monday to disruption of a school function and must remain on probation.
Tyler Christian and Charlene Russell, both 13-year-olds who attended DeLand Middle School, were accused of conspiring with ringleader Austin Mohr to commit a schoolday massacre.
Christian and Russell were also issued a 7 p.m. curfew, and they cannot have access to the Internet, a judge ruled.
The lesser charges came amid good behavior and progress in their mental evaluations.
Investigators said the trio planned to shoot everybody in the school cafeteria before killing themselves. The teens put threatening messages on MySpace because they said they were being bullied.
Christian and Russell will continue to undergo evaluations.
Mohr was earlier placed on probation for five years.
