LEESBURG, Fla. -- A work crew performing maintenance on a Leesburg baseball field uncovered a military training device, police said.
The discovery was made Wednesday morning in the left field area of Pat Thomas Stadium by a crew with the Leesburg's Public Works Department.
A team from Patrick Air Force Base removed the device, which was X-rayed and deemed not explosive.
Local 6 News helicopter Sky 6 showed two men wearing camouflage and a robotic device in the outfield of the baseball diamond.
Pat Thomas Stadium, which holds about 1,500 people, is the home of the Leesburg Lightning of the Florida Collegiate Summer League and the Leesburg High School baseball team, according to a city Web site.
No other details are known, including how long the device was under the field.
