ORLANDO, Fla. -- The state attorney's office on Monday dismissed charges against a Central Florida doctor accused by multiple women of touching them sexually during exams.
Charges were dropped against Regan Burke, 46, who was accused of inappropriately touching six women in 2006, because state experts said the exams he gave were necessary.
"The expert testimony actually verified what our expert said as well -- that what Dr. Burke did was reasonably, medically necessary for the patients' care," said Wesley Blankner, Burke's attorney.
Burke pleaded no contest in July 2007 to one count of sexual battery and was fined $1,000 but decided to fight the other accusations.
He continues to practice as an osteopathic doctor.
