OVIEDO, Fla. -- Oviedo police acted on a tip to foil a home invasion Tuesday night, but two armed men fled after ramming a patrol vehicle and leading authorities on a two-county chase, police said.
Oviedo police staked out a home near Magnolia and state Road 434 and attempted to arrest four people suspected of attempting a home invasion.
One man was arrested, and another was caught later, Oviedo police said.
"Fortunately, we got who we believe is the main planner of this whole home invasion. With time, I think we'll get the other two guys," Oviedo police Lt. George Ilemsky said.
During the getaway, the men drove a stolen Ford Explorer into a police vehicle and led authorities on a chase through Seminole and Orange counties, police said.
The chase ended in the Sutton Ridge neighborhood off the Econ Trail near East Colonial Drive.
Seminole and Orange counties used sheriff's helicopters and K-9s to search for the duo but failed to locate them.
No officers were injured in the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
