Investigators said George Watson began fighting with his girlfriend Elizabeth Clark, 27, after discovering he was out of alcohol at their home located at 12780 Northwest 35th Court in Reddick, Fla.
During the fight, Watson allegedly cut several wires on Clark's car and then punched and chocked her, Local 6 News reported.
Investigators said Watson then took Clark's 10-week-old puppy and hung it from a tree by the collar. When the dog didn't die from the hanging, he allegedly stomped on its head five or six times until it was crushed, Local 6 News reported.
Police said that Watson told Clark to bury the dog and that it was her fault the dog died.
Watson then allegedly ordered Clark to go to the store to buy more beer. Clark called a friend from the store who then called 911 to report the incident.
Watson was arrested for domestic battery and animal cruelty.
He is being held at the Marion County Jail.
