ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Several apartments were evacuated on Thanksgiving night when a fire ignited and smoke spread throughout part of the Altamonte Springs complex, fire officials said.
A fire started in a third-floor unit at the Waterside at Cranes Roost Apartments at about 9:30 p.m. and smoke forced fire officials to evacuate several surrounding units.
"I counted -- if I'm right -- 27 units on this side. I don't know if there's more on the other side. As far as (residents being) displaced, it's this one apartment (where the fire started) and two or three surrounding it," Greg Kirby of the Seminole County Fire Department said.
No one was injured in the fire.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is under way.
