ORLANDO, Fla. -- A flight that took off from Orlando International Airport skidded off an icy runway at Quad City International Airport in Illinois, Local 6 News reported.No one was hurt, but the incident forced the airport to shut down its runways for at least an hour, contributing to the travel headaches being felt by thousands of passengers.Airports across the country recovered from a barrage of snow and ice storms Wednesday, with some conditions improving, but highways remained dangerously slippery in some areas.The weather service posted winter storm warnings and advisories for large parts of the West, plus parts of the Midwest and the Northeast.At Orlando International Airport, the Levine family spent the holiday on a couch instead of with friends in New York.Flights to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York were delayed an average of three hours.Flights to Newark, N.J., were delayed by as much as four hours.Travelers at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport may have had it the worst – more than 100 flights were canceled Wednesday after 500 flights were canceled on Tuesday.
