POSTED: Tuesday, January 13, 2009

An ambulance en route to a call crashed into an ambulance transporting a patient to a hospital and another vehicle in Orange County Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to troopers, an Orange County Fire Rescue ambulance going to a call struck the rear of a Health Central ambulance around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Silver Star and Apopka-Vineland roads. Both ambulances had lights and sirens operating, troopers said.

A paramedic and the patient being transported to the hospital suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, troopers said.

A third vehicle was also struck at the intersection, according to the FHP. The driver and her daughter were taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
