DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Police in two cities are searching for a man they believe committed two robberies in less than an hour.
Authorities said a man entered a convenience store in Daytona Beach and demanded cash from the cashier.
"The robber at that time stated, 'If you don't put the money in the bag, I'll shoot everyone in the store,' " Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said. "The cashier didn't see the gun, but the implication was made."
The cashier complied with the man's demands, and the robber left the store.
The man's attire, flip-flops and socks, did not indicate that he intended to get away on foot, authorities said, so they believe the man had the help of a getaway driver.
Less than an hour later at a store three miles away in Port Orange, another convenience store was robbed in a similar manner.
"As soon as he entered the store he put the backpack on the counter, told the cashier, 'Put all the money in the bag,' " Chitwood said.
Authorities believe the man could be linked to more robberies.
