DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- A congregant of the Lakeview Baptist Church became suspicious when he saw a pair of legs dangling from the building's roof, and with good reason.
Two potted marijuana plants were being tended to on the church's roof, said Rev. Klay Aspinwall, the pastor who climbed up to the roof and removed the unholy contraband.
"Maybe they thought it was safer to do it in a church because who would expect anyone to be growing marijuana at a church?" Aspinwall said. "Who's going to be looking around, looking for dope?"
Aspinwall turned the plants and some watering and fertilizing equipment over to police last Saturday, one day after the discovery.
Police in the West Palm Beach suburb are increasing patrols around the church, but have not determined who was growing the marijuana.
