'Annoying Neighbor' Out Of Prison

Alan Davis Serves More Than 4 Years In Prison For Littering, Probation Violations

POSTED: Wednesday, May 20, 2009

A man known as Seminole County's most annoying neighbor was released from state prison on Wednesday.

Alan Davis gained national attention for littering his yard with junk, a crime that – along with probation violations – earned him four years behind bars.

Davis began what he called a political protest 10 years ago by littering his yard and roof with things like scrap metal, airplane parts and toilets. Davis also displayed a giant statue of a human buttocks.

In 2003 a jury convicted Davis of felony criminal littering and a judge sentenced him to one year in state prison, but shortly after he got out, he was taken back into custody on charges of several probation violations.

After spending more than four years in jail total, Davis is being released again.

Other than some tall weeds, Davis' property is clean, but it remains to be seen if he will continue his protest.

If Davis begins to trash his yard again, code enforcement officers and prosecutors will have to build a new case against him.

Davis took a bus home from prison.
