Rona Ramon, spoke to the media for the first time since Saturday's tragedy.
"The only thing that haunts me now is that during the take off, while we were all in 'high', because it was such a wonderful and perfect event, my youngest daughter yelled 'I lost my daddy' and apparently she knew," Ramon said. "She is five years old. And that's the only thing that hurts."
Ramon's wife said she's consoled by the knowledge that the astronauts loved what they were doing and that they were a group of angels.
Ramon's parents and other family members left Israel for the United States to be with the family.
The family said a through investigation into what happened would help ease their pain.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has declared Ramon a national hero and vowed that more Israelis will fly in space.
