A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was critically injured in a crash early Friday on the East-West Expressway in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Kevin Joseph Ozakiewicz, 27, of Orlando, died in the crash, and Megan Brandenburg, 22, of Fern Park, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, the FHP said.

According to troopers, Ozakiewicz was driving a 1997 Suzuki at a high rate of speed eastbound on state Road 508 near state Road 50 at about 1:40 a.m. when he entered a curve, lost control and skidded into a guardrail.

Ozakiewicz and Brandenburg, who were not wearing helmets, were ejected, and Ozakiewicz struck the guardrail, troopers said.
