100 Other Cats Found Roaming House

Authorities discovered the frozen carcasses of more than 80 cats and found more than 100 others alive inside a home in New Mexico Wednesday.

Police reportedly went to the home earlier this week after receiving reports of foul odors.

Animal control officers removed about 70 cats from the home Tuesday and returned for the remaining cats Wednesday. They said that many of the animals had gooey eyes, runny noses and skin problems and were in need of veterinary care.

Officers found 82 frozen cats inside a kitchen freezer -- each inside a one-gallon freezer bag labeled with a brief description and date.

Officials say a 46-year-old woman lived alone in the house.

She was examined for physical and mental problems, then released.

Police said that they're still considering which charges -- if any -- will be filed against the woman.
