Septic Tank Drained In Ocasio Search

Search Yields No Results

A septic tank was drained Thursday afternoon in the search for a missing Ocoee woman.

The tank is located at the former home of the only suspect in Tracy Ocasio's disappearance, James Hataway. Police said they did not find unusual in the tank.

Hataway previously cleaned septic tanks for a living, and police said he told friends a septic tank would be a good place to hide a body.

"In a way it’s a blessing, because I don’t want them to find her in a septic tank, because it shows a complete disregard for any human dignity or feelings. When they do find her, if she's not with us anymore, it would be better if she was in some kind of shallow grave," Ocasio's mother, Liz Ocasio, said.

Hataway was the last person seen with Ocasio, 27. The pair left the Tap Room bar in metro west early on May 27 and Hataway told investigators Ocasio dropped him off at his Ocoee home and left. Ocasio has not been seen since.

The home on Mims Road where the septic tank is located has remained vacant since Hataway moved out and back in with his father.

The Ocoee Police Department performed the draining and search of the tank's contents.

Results of the search will be released later today.

Hataway is being held at the Seminole County Jail on unrelated charges.
