INDIALANTIC, Fla. -- An Indialantic physician facing charges of having sex with a minor has been released on $135,000 bond from the Brevard County Detention Center.
John Matthew Gayden, 55, was arrested Wednesday on charges of having sex with a juvenile. He also was arrested a month earlier on drug charges.
The latest charges against Gayden include three counts of procuring a person under 18 for prostitution and three counts of unlawful sexual activity with minors. Investigators from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said Gayden, an internist who practices family medicine, engaged in sexual contact with the victim on three occasions in June.
The victim, who was not a patient of Gayden's, said she was paid for engaging in sexual activity with the doctor. Incidents occurred both at the doctor's office, located in the 1900 block of N. State Road A1A, and at a local hotel, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
Last month, Gayden was charged with 31 misdemeanor counts of drug possession and third-degree felony counts of the sale and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and attempt to promote sexual performance by a child.
