ORLANDO, Fla. -

Orlando firefighters had to battle an apartment fire that started on the first floor and spread to a second Saturday.

Firefighters were called out to 4900 Kirkman Road near Conroy Road after flames were seen coming from an apartment window.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames on the first floor that started to burn into the second floor, officials said.

One person was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation injuries, firefighters said.

The State Fire Marshal's office was called to investigate the cause of the blaze.
