2 arrested in Polo thefts from Melbourne Square Mall

Detectives say 2 suspects remain at large

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A 35-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl believed to be involved in the thefts of thousands of dollars worth of clothing from a local department store have been arrested, according to Melbourne police.

The Melbourne Police Department released photos of two suspects who were suspected of loading Polo brand clothes into shopping bags at the Macy's department store at the Melbourne Square Mall, and then walking out without paying.

Melbourne police asked the public to contact Central Florida Crimeline with any information that would help identify the two suspects.

Police said Crimeline tips started to roll in and investigators were able to identify the two suspects as 35-year-old Cynthia Harriell and 15-year old-Asia Daughtry, both of Fort Pierce.

Warrants for their arrest were issued and police said Harriell was taken into custody on Sept. 27 by the St Lucie County Sheriff's Office. Daughtry was taken into custody yesterday at her high school, also by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.

"There are still two suspects at large: a male and a female," said Melbourne Police Detective Jay Hazelett. "We know who they are. We are just waiting on confirming their ID."

This group is also believed to be responsible for similar thefts in St. Lucie and Indian River counties, police said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the two remaining suspects is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477). Police said all calls to Crimeline are anonymous and information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
