Couple married 50 years found dead in apparent murder-suicide
Deputies say Cocoa man's health was in decline
An elderly couple married for 50 years were found dead late Thursday inside a Cocoa home in an apparent murder-suicide, deputies said.
The bodies of Edward Caddell, 89, and Patricia Caddell, 76, were found inside their home at 124 Briarwood Court after they failed to show up for a dinner engagement, according to a Brevard County sheriff's report.
Witnesses who knew the couple told investigators that Edward Caddell, a Navy veteran, recently had a decline in his health.
A firearm that deputies believe was used in the incident was recovered at the scene.
Brevard County sheriff's deputies are still investigating, but, so far, believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
Autopsies are scheduled to be conducted.
