2 dead in head-on Oviedo crash

8-year-old boy, 65-year-old woman die in crash

OVIEDO, Fla. – An 8-year-old boy and 65-year-old woman were killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash in Oviedo, in the area of S.R. 434 and the 417.

Ethan Deuter died in the accident, while his brother Kyle Deuter, 6, and sister Courtney Deuter, 9, only suffered minor injuries, troopers said.

The Deuters' neighbors were shocked to hear of Ethan's death.

"It's devastating," said Jenifer Walker, whose son played with Ethan. "It's even more devastating to even know the mom is still in critical condition."

Their mother, 28-year-old Danielle Deuter, who was driving the vehicle with the children, was listed in critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The woman driving the other vehicle, 65-year-old Marie Radford, a teacher at Seminole High School, died from her injuries, troopers said.

"Danny Deuter is a friend from high school many of us are praying and keeping positive thoughts for his family," said Tiffany Hicks in a statement. "Many of us are praying that God will heal his family."

The crash was dispatched around 10:09 a.m. FHP had to close S.R. 434, east of the 417, while investigators worked the scene.

Walker said the construction zone along 434 contributes to a lot of accidents.

"People don't slow down," Walker said. "They're not paying attention and they just fly by. A lot of times they even pass the school bus when the school bus stops there in the afternoons."
