2 identified in Orlando triple-shooting

Shooter turns gun on himself after firing into West Oaks apartment

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two men shot in a triple-shooting at an Orlando apartment complex on Christmas Day have been identified.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office on Thursday said Austin Duink, 24, was killed in the shooting and Donovan Cope, 21, was seriously injured.  The shooter, whose name has not yet been released, fatally shot himself, deputies said.

Deputies said the gunman went to a bottom-floor apartment in the West Oaks complex around 5 p.m. Wednesday and opened fire.

"He was at the front door, knocked on it and then fired some rounds through that front door," said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "When the door didn't open, he went to the window, fired some more shots into that window."

"He shot and killed one white male inside and shot another white male inside who was taken to ORMC in stable condition," said Hopkins.

Then, deputies say, the man turned the gun on himself, committing suicide before deputies arrived.

Deputies say two couples lived inside the apartment and the shooter knew one of the women who stayed there.  The two women inside fled the apartment during the shooting and were not injured, deputies said.

Investigators say two of the people who lived at the apartment were blood relatives. Deputies haven't revealed how they're related.

"I've been here for four years and this is the first I've seen something like this happen," said John Holladay, who lives in the complex. "I'm shocked. On Christmas Day? That's really sad."

A motive for the shooting has not been released.
