ORLANDO, Fla. -

Two women were run over and killed late Monday night when a SUV plowed into a Lynx bus stop in Orlando, police said.

A 2004 Hyundai crashed around 10:45 p.m. on Silver Star Road near Le Havre Boulevard, not far from Evans High School.

According to Orlando police, the driver of the SUV, a 45-year-old woman, swerved off the road for an unknown reason and crashed into the bus stop, where two women in their 20s were waiting.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to a hospital and later died. The victims were identified as Laquasha Robinson and Joanna Lawrence.

The driver of the SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, said officials, who added that it's too soon to tell if alcohol played a role in the crash.

"It's just sad that stuff like this happens," witness Catherine Cooper said.  "I catch the bus to work every day and I come home around this time, so for something to happen like that it's really crazy and it scares me."

Westbound lanes of Silver Star were blocked for hours but later reopened.
