A prominent musician and business-owner was arrested in Volusia County after being accused of engaging in sex acts with a teenage boy.

Deputies arrested F. Douglas Wilhite, 56, on Friday. He is charged with engaging in sex acts multiple times with 15-year-old.

Wilhite first came under investigation when questioned in the boy's disappearance, deputies said.

Deputies learned that Wilhite is a nudist who allowed the missing boy and his friends to be naked around him, but Wilhite said he never touched the boy sexually, deputies said. Wilhite said he allowed the boy and his friends to have sex in his presence, and offered them video equipment to record themselves while nude, deputies said.

In July, the victim told investigators Wilhite offered him alcohol in exchange for his nudity. He also said Wilhite engaged in sex acts with him around a dozen times, deputies said.

Wilhite is the president and founder of Wings Communications and the owner of WELE radio AM 1380. The radio station's Web site said Wilhite has been a radio host for 30 years and has worked with several prominent Volusia County politicians, including former Daytona Beach city commissioner Gwen Azama-Edwards and for Volusia County councilmember Big John, both have their own radio shows on WELE.

According to his online biography, Wilhite was the Florida Businessman of the Year in 2006 and is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Ormond Beach Symphony Orchestra and several other orchestras in the area.

Wilhite is married and has children.

The case remains under investigation as deputies look into the possibility that there are other victims.

Wilhite was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail and is being held on $100,000 bond.
