WINTER PARK, Fla. -- A woman was arrested upon re-entering the United States on charges that she molested a 7-year-old girl she was baby-sitting in 2001.
Celeste Meyer, now 22, worked for a church and baby-sat privately for families on the side, Winter Park police said. According to her MySpace page, she is now a college student in Gainesville, but her permanent address is in Winter Park.
Police investigated a complaint that Meyer had molested the girl while working as a baby sitter for the girl's family.
A neighbor of the family said he was stunned. Franklin O'Brien said he attends church with Meyer's father.
A second similar incident was reported to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office in 2003, police said.
"It is a big deal. We're concerned if this happened to one child, afraid there are more victims out there," Sgt. Pam Marcum said.
According to the offense report from the sheriff's office, Meyer was accused of fondling a 5-year-old she was baby-sitting in December 2002. Deputies said Meyer denied the accusations.
The case was sent to the state attorney's office, but Meyer was never arrested.
Police are investigating the possibility that Meyer had other victims.
Meyer was arrested at Miami International Airport on Wednesday. She is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.
Police said the accusations were made recently.
Meyer bonded out of jail Wednesday night. She had been on a school-related trip.
