ORLANDO, Fla. -- At least twelve Disney bus passengers have been taken to the hospital after two of the park's buses collided in front of the Contemporary Hotel and Resort, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
At least 50 people were on the buses when the collision occurred Thursday around 2:30 p.m., Reedy Creek Emergency Services said.
A bus stopped for merging traffic on World Drive and a second bus rear-ended it, the FHP said.
Most of the victims who were hospitalized were complaining of bumps, bruises or neck pain. According to the FHP, all the injuries were minor.
The patients were transported to four area hospitals; Florida Hospital Kissimmee, Dr. Phillips, Celebration and Health Central.
"Nothing is more important than the safety of our guests and cast members. We are focused on the well being of those involved in the situation. We are working with law enforcement," a Disney spokesperson said.
