KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- A family of eight was thrown into Lake Toho on Sunday when their boat capsized in a storm.
Manuel Marquez and seven others were able to get on top of the overturned power boat and use a cell phone to call 911.
Because of the family's remote location, emergency crews had trouble finding them, but some nearby boaters helped pull them to safety
"My brother passed out; we weren't sure who was alive or dead," said Marquez, who added that he heard alligators nearby.
The family was wearing life vests, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said the vests probably saved their lives.
