OCALA, Fla. -- A Central Florida store manager admitted to soliciting oral sex from a 17-year-old job applicant, police said.
Ocala police said James Murray sent the teen a text message offering work paying $300 - $500 after the boy dropped off a job application at the T.J. Maxx store Murray manages.
When the applicant called Murray to inquire about the offer, Murray offered money for oral sex, the boy told police.
Murray then sent the boy several text messages in which he became increasingly concerned about the boy's reaction, police said.
"Very nervous please text me back that u r cool no matter what u decide. Please understand the importance of our conversation," said a text message from Murray's number to the boy's phone.
When confronted by the victim's mother, Murray did not deny her accusations and told her he was sorry, police said.
When officers arrived at the store, Murray told them "he made a really big mistake," police said.
Police said Murray waved his Miranda rights and admitted to offering the teen money for oral sex and admitted that he knew the boy was 17. Police said Murray told them he was lonely and has had a hard time in Ocala.
Murray was charged with attempted sexual battery with a person under the age of 18.
