ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A 29-year-old Deltona man was arrested on charges that he raped a 12-year-old girl in May at Disney's Fort Wilderness Lodge.
Jean Garcia was arrested by Orange County investigators late Thursday after they received information from Clearwater Police Department that the 12-year-old was allegedly raped by Garcia.
According to a police report, the purported rape happened over the Memorial Day weekend when the 12-year-old met Garcia at the pool.
The following day, when the family was preparing to leave the campsite, the girl went to the laundry room, where Garcia supposedly engaged in sexual activity with the her, according to police.
It wasn't until June when the girl told her sisters she believed she was pregnant with Garcia's child, but she only knew him as Junior when she met him, police said.
The only piece of evidence detectives had to go on was a business card of a Deltona Parks and Recreation Department worker upon which Garcia had written his cell phone number.
The girl's foster mother went to authorities to report the alleged attack.
An Orange County crime analyst posed as the 12-year-old and called Garcia's number from the business card to try and get Garcia to meet her back at the Fort Wilderness Lodge again.
Garcia agreed to the meeting, and on Thursday, detectives were able to follow him from his home in Deltona to Disney, where they pulled him over and took him in to custody.
Garcia is being charged with sexual battery and is being held at the Orange County Jail on no bond.
The girl is now 13 years old.
