Residents in a Seminole County, Fla., neighborhood were shocked to find a duck swimming in a pond with a 29-inch arrow completely through its body, according to Local 6 News.
Authorities said that the duck was apparently shot a close range at a pond near Hunt Club and then left to die.
"It just makes me very angry that somebody gets pleasure out of animal abuse," neighbor Valerie Luevarno said. "I don't care if it is a wild duck or a domestic animal. No one has the right to treat another creature that way."
Neighbors and animal control workers used a boat to catch the injured duck and then transported it to the Longwood Veterinary Clinic.

Doctors were able to safely remove the arrow but they are still concerned about infection before allowing the duck to go back to its Seminole County pond.
"That's the goal, getting him back to his little pond and being fed bread and stuff (again)," veterinarian Shellie Campbell said.
The person responsible for shooting the duck faces felony charges, according to Local 6 News.
If you have any information concerning this, you are urged to call the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
