TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- A homeowner near Titusville held two men at gunpoint Sunday who attempted to steal her car before they were arrested by deputies, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said.
Matthew Clark, 20, and Justin Sheppard, 19, both of Titusville, face charges of burglary, burglary of a conveyance and grand theft, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
The sheriff’s office said they received a call about 6 a.m. Sunday about a burglary in progress at a residence on Karen Drive. As they traveled to the scene, they were told that the homeowner was holding two men at gunpoint.
The homeowner told deputies that she heard a noise in the carport area and saw someone sitting in the passenger seat of her son’s truck. Her son retrieved a .38 revolver while the woman took hold of a 12-gauge shotgun, confronted the burglars and held them at gunpoint, the sheriff’s office said.
The two suspects were also charged with a residential burglary after they were interviewed by deputies.
The sheriff’s office said that the two might have victimized other people.
Anyone with more information can call the sheriff’s office at 264-5210 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
