KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- A school bus driver told the Florida Highway Patrol he was distracted by his passengers when his bus carrying 34 students crashed.
The students were on their way to Horizon Middle School when the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. near U.S. highway 17-92 and Ham Brown Road in Osceola County, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The bus went off the road and hit a mailbox and a culvert, FHP said.
FHP said the bus had a reported axle problem, but bus driver Edward Reyes told FHP he was distracted by the students when the crash occurred.
Reyes was cited for careless driving in the crash.
Six students on the bus were transported by ambulance to Osceola Regional hospital with very minor injuries, FHP said.
