ORLANDO, Fla. -- Recently released documents in the case of a woman being shot in her Isleworth home show some interesting pieces of evidence in the case.
James Robert Ward is accused of shooting his wife, Diane Ward, in the couple's multimillion-dollar home last month.
The new evidence includes an e-mail James Ward sent the night his wife was shot, as well as details about a second autopsy on Diane Ward.
According to court documents, detectives with the Orange County Sheriff's Office allowed Ward to make a few phone calls and send e-mails after his arrest. One of the first e-mails was to the court-appointed trustee handling his company's bankruptcy.
"You bastards!! I hope you are happy. Diane killed herself this evening. Go to hell," James Ward wrote in the e-mail.
At James Ward's bond hearing last week, Orange County Medical Examiner Jan Garavaglia said she could say for certain that Diane Ward did not kill herself.
"Forensically, preponderance of the evidence is this is not a suicide; she did not do this by herself," Garavaglia said.
In a second autopsy requested by Diane Ward's family, Dr. William Anderson said, "Clearly this could have been inflicted accidentally or in a situation in which two people were struggling over a weapon when it discharged."
In court, Garavaglia said she could not say for certain if there had been a struggle.
James Ward posted bond last week and left the Orange County Jail after spending more than two weeks behind bars. He is charged with first-degree murder in his wife's death.
