Melbourne Man Taken To Hospital For Treatment

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- A Melbourne man suffered serious injuries on Tuesday when he shot himself in the hand while cleaning a firearm, police said.
The incident happened at about 12:05 p.m. at a residence in the 2900 block of Park Village in Melbourne, police said.
“He was cleaning his firearm when he shot a finger off,” Melbourne police Cmdr. Ron Bell told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.
The man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Brevard County Fire-Rescue crews responded to the residence and transported the man to an area hospital for treatment.
