POSTED: Friday, October 30, 2009
UPDATED: 12:01 am EDT October 31, 2009

Orlando Jai-Alai is closing its doors after nearly 50 years in business.

Employees of the landmark fronton, located on U.S. Highway 17-92 in Casselberry, were told about the decision on Thursday.

The facility, which has been in operation for almost 48 years, will likely close for good on Dec. 27. Other forms of gambling have made business difficult at the fronton.

About 75 people work at the business year-round.
