Police continue to investigate a deadly accident that killed a 40-year-old pedestrian as he attempted to cross a busy Melbourne road.

Police have not released the name of the victim pending notification of the next of kin.

Teresa Warren, 42, of Melbourne, has been charged with driving with a suspended license following the Thursday night accident near the intersection of Wickham Road and Electronics Drive, police reports show.

Investigators said Warren was traveling northbound on Wickham Road in her 1989 Chevrolet pickup as the unidentified pedestrian was attempting to cross in an eastbound direction at about 8:20 p.m., Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

Police said the pedestrian failed to yield the right of way and was struck. Melbourne Fire Department paramedics unsuccessfully attempted to revive the man.

The roadway’s northbound lanes were blocked for about three hours.

Warren was taken to the Brevard County Detention Center. No charges are pending as a result of the fatality, police said.
