SWAT Team Clears Home After 911 Call

Palm Bay Police Say Caller Reported Possible Burglary

POSTED: Monday, November 2, 2009
UPDATED: 7:06 pm EST November 2, 2009

A SWAT team found no one inside a Palm Bay house after a 911 call was made about a possible burglary, according to police.

Palm Bay police SWAT officers on Monday afternoon surrounded a house on Abalone Road near Northwest Naftal Avenue following a 911 call just after 1 p.m.

A man told a 911 dispatcher his home had been broken into and he believed his wife was inside with the burglars.

The SWAT team sent a robot inside and found a woman who said she was hiding because she thought the burglars were still in the house.

No burglars have been found and investigators said they are not sure if the burglars were ever inside at the same time as the woman.

No one was injured during the incident, but the neighborhood was locked down for several hours.
