LAKELAND, Fla. -- A teenage boy has been charged with stabbing a Lakeland man 30 times during a home invasion.
Police said 14-year-old Noel Cruz-Diego broke into the home Tuesday night. When 55-year-old Daniel Granton confronted the teen, the boy stabbed the man repeatedly in the chest, took Granton's wallet and fled the scene.
Cruz-Diego was later caught and arrested by police.
Granton was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The boy was charged with attempted felony murder, home invasion robbery, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and two counts of burglary to a conveyance.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said Cruz-Diego has been arrested or taken into custody on nine on 27 separate charges in the past three years.
