One man was killed and another was seriously injured in an Ormond Beach motorcycle crash that split the bike in two.

Ormond Beach police are investigating the Thursday morning crash on Riverside Drive.

Police said Steven Row, 25, was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle with Michael Leveille, 28, as a passenger and he failed to make a turn and hit a guardrail and then a tree.

The bike was split in two and Leveille was killed. Row was taken to Halifax Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that excessive speed and alcohol consumption were likely factors in the crash. Neither man was wearing a helmet.
