ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- On Friday, officials released a 911 call made by an Orange County deputy in September that reported a masked man had attacked her in her east Orange County apartment.
Local 6's Mike DeForest listened to the call and spoke with officials as to why the deputy's credibility is now being called into question.
In the call, the unidentified deputy claimed an intruder ambushed her as she walked into the bedroom of her apartment, located on Goldenrod Road. The caller told the dispatcher she wrestled the masked man on the floor but was able to grab her county-issued handgun on her nightstand.
"I got two shots off, but I missed him, I think," the caller said.
When detectives questioned their coworker a short time later, they said the deputy appeared to be under the influence of prescription medication that caused her eyes to roll back into her head. She also had slurred speech and unsteady feet, detectives said.
Investigators also said the deputy sent several text messages to an ex-boyfriend she had broken up with that day to come over and cuddle about 30 minutes after the alleged attack. Close acquaintances of the deputy claimed she had experienced traumatic events following breakups before.
Although detectives found no signs of forced-entry and she refused to take a polygraph test, the deputy still insists she was nearly raped by her attacker.
"Only thing he told me was, 'You're mine tonight,'" she said.
The case remains open, but detectives said they will not be actively working on it unless they receive some new information.
