KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- A woman told Osceola County sheriff's deputies that men posing as police officers pulled her over and made derogatory comments toward her before driving away.
The woman said she was driving on U.S. 192 in Kissimmee on Wednesday when a dark-colored Nissan Altima with flashing red and blue lights mounted on its dashboard pulled up behind her.
The woman pulled over near Formosa Gardens Boulevard, and the Altima, which was carrying three Hispanic males, drove next to her and insulted her before fleeing.
Osceola County sheriff's deputies said the woman was unable to see the car's license plate, but she noticed a Dominican flag covering the rear window.
An investigation is ongoing.
Florida law prohibits anyone from impersonating a law enforcement officer or using blue lights illegally.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office encourages motorists who are unsure if they are being pulled over by a law enforcement officer to drive to a well-lit area. Ask the officer for identification or call 911 to verify if the person is legitimate.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
