PALM BAY, Fla. -- A 25-year-old Brevard County man faces charges that allege he had several sexual encounters with a girl after attending her 16th birthday party, according to police.Markeis Clark, of Palm Bay, was charged with unlawful sex with a minor after the mother reported the alleged contact to police.The girl told police that the sexual encounters happened about three weeks before Christmas, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.Police then recorded a phone call between Clark and the victim in which Clark said he made a mistake and thought she was 17, police said.The mother of the girl contradicted the claim by noting that Clark attended the girl’s “sweet 16” birthday party in September, according to police.Clark was arrested and taken to the Brevard County Detention Center in Sharpes, where he remains held on a $30,000 bond. He will have a Feb. 16 hearing on the charges.
