TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- A registered sex offender who allegedly molested a 10-year-old girl last month at the Titusville Walmart has been apprehended in Fort Pierce.
Early Sunday morning, Fort Pierce police arrested Roger A. Fincher, 41, as he attempted to make a scheduled delivery with a tractor trailer.
He was interviewed by Fort Pierce and Titusville detectives, then taken to the St. Lucie County Jail, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
Titusville police received a report that a girl had been approached and inappropriately touched Dec. 20 at Walmart on Cheney Highway. Afterward, the suspect drove off in a big rig, reports show.
Then on Wednesday, Fort Pierce police received a nearly identical report describing the molestation of an 11-year-old girl at a Walmart in Fort Pierce.
Brevard County authorities issued an arrest warrant for Fincher for lewd or lascivious molestation and aggravated stalking. Fort Pierce police also obtained a warrant for his arrest.
During police interviews Sunday morning, Fincher confessed to both crimes, Titusville Detective Jessica Edens reported in a statement.
Fincher is a registered sex offender from Leichester, N.C., and he has prior convictions in North Carolina for sex crimes against children under similar circumstances, police said.
Anyone with additional information is urged to call the Titusville Police Department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
