$5K Worth Of Exotic Chickens Stolen

Ocala Man Says Animals Taken From Pens

POSTED: Wednesday, March 3, 2010
UPDATED: 2:22 pm EST March 3, 2010

More than a dozen exotic chickens valued at nearly $5,000 were stolen from an Ocala residence, deputies said.

Ten hens and six roosters, valued at $300 each, were taken from a home in the 9600 block of Northeast 25th Court sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon, deputies said.

A man who contacted deputies said he left home around 7 p.m. Monday and when he returned at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, he noticed the chickens, which have metal tags on their wings that say "Owl Nest," were missing from their pens.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers at 352-368-STOP.
