ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- A deputy's frantic radio transmission detailing a multi-vehicle crash in Orange City in which an infant survived was released on Friday.
Two adults and an infant were inside a sport utility vehicle that rolled over Thursday afternoon on South Volusia Avenue near Enterprise Road.
The crash occurred right in front of Volusia County sheriff's Deputy Kim Valle and she immediately called for assistance.
"There's a baby in the vehicle," the deputy said frantically while requesting rescue units. "Two vehicles (are) involved ... several victims."
The deputy is later heard giving an update on the situation.
"The baby's 2 weeks old (and is) alert and conscious at this time," she said. "I have several vehicles and several victims in a rollover -- unresponsive."
One person was extricated from a vehicle.
Rescue workers were seen carrying the infant away from the crash. The infant appeared unharmed when paramedics were holding the newborn for several minutes. The infant was later put in an ambulance, however, apparently as a precaution.
The scene was cleared at about 7:15 p.m.
