ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando police said a man left his 4-month-old daughter in bushes near Universal Studios to search for her mother.
Charles Gohde is charged with child neglect without great bodily harm. The 29-year-old is accused of leaving his infant in a stroller Saturday night in bushes for two hours near the employee parking lot. He has since bonded out of jail.
Gohde said he left the child in the bush so he could look for the mother, Ashley Gaskin.
Police made contact with Gohde, Gaskin's boyfriend, after Gaskin was removed from the employee parking lot at Universal for trespassing, police said. When Gohde saw Gaskin with law enforcement, he immediately asked where their baby was, police said.
Police noted that both parents smelled stongly of alcohol.
Gohde told police where he left his daughter and she was found by a park employee crying in her stroller in some bushes along the fence line of the employee parking lot, police said.
The child was examined at Dr. Phillips hospital.
Gaskin denied knowing where her child was and has not been charged.
Police said the child is now in custody of the Department of Children and Families.
A hearing in the case will be held on Tuesday.
